The 2nd Annual LIC Clean Up and Tree Care will be held on Saturday, May 31. Residents and visitors in the area are invited to gather to improve the block of 48th Avenue between 5th Street and Vernon Blvd., adjacent to Gantry Plaza State Park.
The Long Island City Environmental Community Organization (LIC Eco), a local group committed to a cleaner, healthier and more beautiful LIC has organized the event and will be coordinating all activities and providing supplies for cleaning, mulching and soil cultivation.

Hunters Point Parks Conservancy, a resident organization that oversees the LIC waterfront parks is hosting an event to celebrate 16 years of LIC waterfront parks and to honor a number of donors who have supported the beautification of Hunters Point South and Gantry Park. This occasion will also mark the official public unveiling of Hunters Point Parks Conservancy, which has been restructured and renamed to reflect the area’s recent expansion and growth. The event, which is to be held at LIC Landing by Coffeed on Saturday, will gather several elected officials, including local councilman Jimmy Van Bramer and Borough President Melinda Katz.

TF Connerstone, the company that has dominated constriction on the Long Island City waterfront with a slew of six high-rise buildings along the Gantry Plaza State Park, has been awarded the contract along with nonprofit Selfhelp Community Services to build phase two of the massive Hunters Point South project.
