Hunter’s Point – Great waterfront location in LIC for viewing the New York skyline

Hunter’s Point in Long Island City Queens is a fast growing neighborhood in New York City. It is located on the Western side of the Queens waterfront just a stone’s throw away from Manhattan.

The main business distract of Hunter’s Point is Court Square. The main buidling in the busness district is one Court Square also know as the Citgroup main residential area in Hunter’s Point is the waterfront where some ten skyscrapers with floor to ceiling windows have arisen from the industrial brownfield that once existed. In addtion seven more high-rises are planned on the southern end of the waterfront in a new development called Hunter’s Point South. 

The waterfront at Hunter’s Point is also home to two gorgeously designesd parks, Hunter’s Point South Park and Gantry Plaza State Park.  The parks are built to provide visitors with amazing views of the New York skyline and include piers, esplanades, an urban bech and a Ferry terminal that wisks commuters to and from Brooklyn and Manhattan.

Hunetr’s Point is also home to a historic district on 45th Avenue between 21st and 23st strreet.  This strip is lined by beautiful million dollar brownstone houses.

In addition to above Hunter’s Point boasts the Graffiti Mecca of the world in the form of a building called 5 Pointz, and the MOMA PS1 museum which is a branch of the MOMA in Manhattan.

Gantry Park offers visitors amazing views of the New York Skyline

Gantry Plaza State Park, also affectionately called Gantry Park, is a waterfront park located in Hunter’s Point, Long Island City, New York. It offers visitors the most amazing views of the New York skyline. Though small in size, Gantry Park is one of America’s most uniquely beautiful urban parks. Along with Hunter’s Point South Park which is also located on the LIC waterfront and is just a quick ride across the Queensboro Bridge and through Queens Plaza, Gantry Park is considered by many to be one of the best parks in New York to get an unobstructed panoramic view of the skyline. The park itself sits on the banks of the East River directly facing the magnificent New York skyline, just a stone’s throw away from the United Nations.

Run the Waterfront 5K through Gantry Park

The route of inaugural 2016 “Run The Waterfront 5K” in Long Island City, New York will flow through the streets running alongside Gantry Park, officially known as Gantry Plaza State Park. The 5 km event which is scheduled to take place on Saturday 4th June 2016 is expected to attract more than 1000 runners and walkers from all over New York.

New York Skyline – Spectacular views from Hunter’s Point South
The New York skyline is probably the most famous skyline in the World, and Hunter’s Point South with its two gorgeous parks Gantry Plaza State Park and Hunters Point South Park is probably the perfect place to view the Manhattan skyline, take fantastic photos, and spend a moment savoring the magnificence of New York. Gantry Park is located on the banks of the East River, directly facing Manhattan. The view of the skyline from the park is unobstructed and absolutely breathtaking, with just the tidal strait of the East River flowing between the two. As you look out from the park, the skyscrapers of NYC rise majestically before your very eyes, and stand as if framed by the heavens above, the river below, and the periphery of your vision on either side.

‘What You See’ from Hunter’s Point South – The United Nations
Looking across the East River from Hunter’s Point South in Long Island City, New York, you cannot miss the regal rectangular building located on a spacious 18-acre site stretching from 42nd to 48th Street right along 1st Avenue in the Turtle Bay neighborhood of Manhattan. This complex has served as the official headquarters of the United Nations since its completion in 1952 with the oblong 39-story Secretariat as its visual centerpiece.
