Waterfront Real Estate and Class Fights Along the East River

Posted by Jake at February 27. 2011

This month, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal reported on a planned new ferry service, which will bring the East River alive. The ferry service, connecting Manhattan at two places on the waterfront – East 34th Street and Pier 11 at Wall Street in the Financial District – to Queens and Brooklyn, is scheduled to start in June. From East 34th Street in Manhattan, the ferry operated by BullyBey Ferry Company, a division of New York Waterway, which currently operates the New Jersey ferry, will cross the East River, then stop at Hunters Point South in Long Island City, Queens, on to India Street in Greenpoint, then on to North Fifth and Sixth Streets in North Williamsburg, on to Schaefer Landing in South Williamsburg, and one more stop in Brooklyn at the Fulton Ferry Landing below the Brooklyn Bridge in DUMBO, before sailing to Pier 11 at Wall Street in the Financial District.
