On Wednesday, August 28 2013, New York City officials gathered at the Long Island City waterfront in Queens, New York to jointly unveil the new Hunter’s Point South Park. Mayor Bloomberg ceremoniously cut the red ribbon to officially open the park and address to the attendees. In his remarks he outlined his vision for the development of the Hunter’s Point South neighborhood and the projects currently underway.
Among others, the Mayor was joined at the ceremony by Parks and Recreation Commissioner Veronica M. White, New York City Economic Development Corporation President Kyle Kimball, Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, State Senator Michael Gianaris and Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer. Also present to celebrate the grand opening were representatives from the community board and the architects and engineers who spearheaded the construction of the park.
