The application period for rentals at Phase 1 of the Hunters Point South Development in Long Island City Queens, began on Wednesday 15th October 2014.

The long anticipated lottery for these 925 affordable housing units in the burgeoning community finally opened up to the pubic after several years of planning and development.

Over the past few weeks, hundreds of people attended town hall meetings in Sunnyside, Woodside and Long Island City to hear more about the new development, the eligibility requirements, and how to go about preparing and submitting an application.

The massive seven building high-rise waterfront project will accept applications until December 15, 2014 for two of its properties – Hunter’s Point South Crossing and Hunter’s Point South Commons. Following this, applications will be screened, evaluated and processed by the NYC housing lottery based on low and moderate income levels.

Hunter’s Point South is located on the waterfront of Long Island City in the borough of Queens in New York City. It is a newly developing neighborhood with high-rise apartments under construction, an incredibly beautiful park and unobstructed views of the world famous New York skyline. Just one stop away from Manhattan on the NYC subway, it is literally a stone’s throw away from the magnificent Manhattan skyline.

With the opening of an incredible skyline viewing $66 Million dollar park just over a year ago,  and with the impending completion of two of the seven proposed high-rises, the development is now poised to become one of New York’s prime new neighborhoods. The New York skyline is probably the most famous skyline in the World, and Hunter’s Point South with its two gorgeous parks Gantry Plaza State Park and Hunters Point South Park is probably the perfect place to view the Manhattan skyline, take fantastic photos, and spend a moment savoring the magnificence of New York.

Gantry Park is located on the banks of the East River, directly facing Manhattan. The view of the skyline from the park is unobstructed and absolutely breathtaking, with just the tidal strait of the East River flowing between the two.
